The celebration began with verses from the Holy Qur'an, followed by the Yemeni national anthem, with all attendees standing to sing together as one voice. The Ambassador of the Republic of Yemen to Malaysia, Dr. Adel Bahamid, delivered a speech addressing the importance of Yemeni unity in the conscience of every Yemeni and its local and international impact, noting that it has been unfairly blamed for the failures of political systems and self-serving elites, and that poor state governance, the failure to resolve citizens' issues, and the mismanagement of power and wealth were the main reasons unity was burdened with many faults of which it is innocent, while unity was in fact the goal of all Yemeni freedom fighters, north and south. The Ambassador called for unity, solidarity, and rejecting division and its causes, affirming that the strength and unity of Yemenis is a fundamental pillar in confronting the intrusive Persian and Iranian sectarian project targeting Yemen and Yemenis. He concluded his speech by extending his sincere thanks to everyone who contributed to preparing this celebration, thanking the Union of Yemeni Students and the Yemeni community in Malaysia.

Dr. Fawzi Al-Dhi'ah, Chairman of the Yemeni Community Board, also delivered a speech in which he expressed the happiness of Yemenis abroad on the occasion of Yemeni Unity Day, which was declared on 22 May 1990 following the struggle of Yemenis in the north and south, calling on all Yemenis to reject division and regional and sectarian differences, and highlighting the importance of the homeland and preserving it, and working to overcome the many difficulties and challenges it faces today — challenges that threaten its identity, the unity of its territory, its sovereignty, and the independence of its decisions.

The Union of Yemeni Students in Malaysia also delivered a speech through Mr. Abdulrahman Al-Nour, Deputy Chairman of the Student Union, who welcomed attendees, explaining that the solution to the political tensions surrounding Yemeni unity is the federal system of governance, which was among the outcomes of the Yemeni National Dialogue agreed upon by all Yemenis, and that had it not been for the Houthi coup and its accompanying catastrophic effects on Yemen and Yemenis, and Yemen's entry into an open war, Yemenis would now be implementing the outcomes of the dialogue as a reality that meets their needs and requirements. Poet Milyoun Al-Ansi then recited a poem embodying love for the homeland, its unity, and longing for it, which was well received by all attendees. The celebration also included many national vocal performances and dances by the Yemeni Zahrat (Blossoms) schoolgirls, alongside folk dances performed by community members from various Yemeni regions and governorates, which showcased the character of the Yemeni people, their heritage, and their pride in their homeland.

On the Occasion of the 33rd Anniversary of Yemeni Unity

With a large public and student turnout, and under the patronage of the Yemeni Embassy in Malaysia and in cooperation and coordination with the Yemeni community, the Union of Yemeni Students in Malaysia held a joyful carnival celebration marking the 33rd anniversary of Yemeni unity.
